Our challenge

We are seeking a highly skilled Functional Consultant – SAP EPPM & Project Systems (PS) to support enterprise-level project portfolio management and financial tracking initiatives.

This role requires strong functional expertise in SAP Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management (EPPM) and SAP Project Systems (PS) to drive end-to-end solution design, configuration, and implementation of project-centric business processes.

The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, finance teams, and technical teams to design scalable SAP solutions for project planning, budgeting, execution, tracking, and reporting, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $125k – $135k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

• Lead functional design and implementation of SAP EPPM and SAP PS modules
• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to project portfolio management and project execution
• Configure SAP solutions for:
• Project structuring (WBS, networks, milestones)
• Cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting
• Project execution and resource management
• Settlement and financial integration
• Support portfolio planning, prioritization, and governance processes using SAP EPPM
• Design and implement project lifecycle management frameworks aligned with business needs
• Ensure integration with other SAP modules such as FI/CO, MM, HR, and S/4HANA
• Develop functional specifications and collaborate with technical teams for enhancements, reports, and interfaces
• Provide expertise in project cost tracking, revenue recognition, and financial reporting
• Conduct system testing, UAT coordination, and defect resolution
• Support data migration, system upgrades, and S/4HANA transformation initiatives
• Facilitate end-user training, documentation, and change management activities
• Provide ongoing production support and continuous improvement of SAP solutions
• Collaborate with stakeholders to improve portfolio visibility, governance, and reporting

Requirements:

• 7 years of experience as an SAP Functional Consultant with strong focus on SAP PS and/or SAP EPPM
• Proven experience implementing end-to-end project management solutions in SAP environments
• Strong understanding of project accounting, cost control, and financial integration
• Experience in SAP S/4HANA implementations or migrations
• Ability to translate business requirements into functional specifications and SAP configurations
• Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills

Functional & Technical Expertise

• SAP Project Systems (PS): WBS, networks, milestones, cost planning
• SAP EPPM: Portfolio and project management, resource planning
• Project budgeting, forecasting, and cost settlement
• Integration with SAP FI/CO, MM, and other modules
• Reporting tools and dashboards (SAP Fiori, SAP Analytics where applicable)

Tools & Platforms

• SAP PS / SAP EPPM
• SAP S/4HANA
• SAP Fiori (preferred)
• Jira / Azure DevOps (for project tracking)
• MS Office Suite

Preferred, but not required:

• Experience in financial services or regulated industries
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA transformations or upgrades
• Exposure to SAP Portfolio Management and Resource Management functionalities
• Knowledge of integration with external project management tools or data platforms
• SAP certifications in PS, EPPM, or S/4HANA
• Experience working with global delivery teams
