Our challenge

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Java Developer with AI Experience to support enterprise digital transformation initiatives across modern banking and financial systems. This role focuses on building scalable Java-based microservices, integrating AI/ML and Generative AI capabilities, and enabling intelligent automation and predictive insights while driving engineering excellence, system modernization, and AI-driven solution development.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $105k - $115k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java applications using Spring Boot and Microservices architecture.
• Integrate AI/ML models and Generative AI solutions into enterprise applications and business workflows.
• Build and expose RESTful APIs to support AI-powered services and backend functionalities.
• Collaborate with data scientists and AI engineers to deploy and operationalize machine learning models.
• Develop AI-driven solutions such as conversational chatbots, document processing systems, and recommendation engines.
• Optimize performance, scalability, and security of applications within high-transaction environments.
• Participate in system architecture and solution design with a focus on AI integration.
• Ensure adherence to SDLC processes, coding standards, and best practices.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based deployments.

Requirements:

• 5 years of experience in Java development with strong expertise in Java 8/11/17.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Microservices, Hibernate, and REST APIs.
• Exposure to AI/ML concepts and frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, etc.).
• Experience integrating machine learning models into Java-based applications.
• Knowledge of Generative AI and LLM frameworks (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, LangChain) is preferred.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred, but not required:

• Experience in Banking or Financial Services domain.
• Exposure to NLP, conversational AI, or chatbot implementations.
• Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Familiarity with vector databases and AI orchestration frameworks.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
