Our challenge
We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer with expertise in Generative AI to design and build scalable data and AI solutions. The ideal candidate will lead data engineering initiatives while integrating advanced Gen AI capabilities into enterprise systems. The role requires strong experience in data pipelines, big data technologies, and AI-driven architectures.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $105k - $115k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of scalable data pipelines for AI and analytics use cases.
- Build and maintain robust ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured data.
- Design and implement Generative AI solutions using LLMs such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or similar platforms.
- Develop and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
- Collaborate with AI/ML teams to integrate models into production systems.
- Work with stakeholders to translate business requirements into data and AI solutions.
- Ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability of data platforms.
- Implement data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
- Mentor and guide data engineers and junior team members.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams for CI/CD and MLOps implementation.
Requirements:
- Strong experience in Data Engineering and Big Data technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Generative AI and LLM frameworks.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience with big data tools such as Spark, Hadoop, and Kafka.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT frameworks.
- Experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, FAISS, or Weaviate.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience in API development and microservices architecture.
- Strong knowledge of MLOps and data pipeline orchestration tools.
Preferred, but not required:
- Experience with Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, or Google Vertex AI.
- Knowledge of LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with real-time data streaming and processing.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- Familiarity with data governance and data quality tools.
