Location: Irvine, CA (Onsite 5x/week)

Compensation: $140,000/year

We’re partnering with an innovative startup in the smart mobility, robotics, and intelligent systems space that is redefining how vehicles and living environments interact. They are building next-generation platforms that combine autonomous driving, robotics, and smart home integration into a single ecosystem.

They are looking for a Principal Engineer – Electronics & Robotics to lead the architecture and development of advanced control systems, perception stacks, and embedded platforms across their vehicle and smart system products.

What You’ll Do

• Architect and develop autonomy roadmap (ADAS / Level 2 through Level 4)
• Build robotics systems powering automated physical transformations and smart environments
• Design and implement sensor fusion pipelines (camera, LiDAR, radar)
• Develop perception systems (object detection, classification, scene understanding, occupant monitoring)
• Lead robot control systems (motion planning, SLAM/localization, path optimization)
• Drive embedded systems and vehicle platform integration (VCU, BMS, diagnostics, power systems)
• Build edge AI platforms for real-time processing and analytics
• Enable AI-driven user experiences (voice interfaces, agentic AI, smart energy systems)

What You Bring

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field
• 5 years of experience in robotics, autonomy, or embedded systems
• Strong programming experience in C and Python
• Hands-on experience with ROS or ROS2
• Deep understanding of embedded systems (STM32, TC397, or similar)
• Experience with Nvidia platforms and toolchains

Nice to Have

• Autonomous vehicle or ADAS experience
• Functional safety (ISO 26262)
• Cybersecurity (ISO 21434)
• Vehicle systems (BMS, VCU, power electronics)
• Experience with EV platforms or advanced energy systems
