About the Role
As a Litigation Legal Assistant, you'll play a vital role in ensuring attorneys can focus on advocating for clients while you keep cases organized, deadlines on schedule, and communication running smoothly. Your work will directly contribute to the success of the firm's litigation practice by managing critical administrative and case support functions from intake through trial.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage attorney calendars, including hearings, depositions, court appearances, and filing deadlines
- Coordinate case timelines and maintain tasks, reminders, and deadlines within Clio
- Prepare, proofread, and electronically file pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents in Wisconsin state and federal courts
- Maintain organized electronic and physical case files with exceptional attention to detail
- Serve as a professional point of contact for clients, courts, opposing counsel, and outside vendors
- Assist with billing, expense tracking, and preparation of client statements
- Support trial and hearing preparation by organizing exhibits, coordinating logistics, and assembling case materials
- Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys and the litigation team as needed
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of litigation legal assistant experience within a law firm
- Experience with Wisconsin and federal electronic filing systems
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Google Workspace
- Experience with Clio or comparable legal practice management software preferred
- Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Notary Public certification preferred, or willingness to obtain
