Senior Accounting & Systems Consultant

Location: Madison, WI – Hybrid
Salary: $95,000–$115,000 annually

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounting & Systems Consultant to join a growing, technology-focused accounting team in the Madison area. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys combining traditional accounting expertise with technology, automation, process improvement, and direct client interaction.

Rather than focusing solely on transactional accounting, this role will have the opportunity to evaluate how work gets done, identify inefficiencies, and build better systems and processes. You will work closely with business owners and internal client teams, helping them understand their financial information while improving the technology and workflows supporting their accounting operations.

Typical Focus of the Role

• Approximately 50% systems development, automation, integrations, and workflow improvement

• Approximately 25% hands-on accounting and month-end close support

• Approximately 15% client-facing systems implementations, cleanups, and process improvement

• Approximately 10% internal collaboration, training, and documentation

What You’ll Do

• Manage month-end close activities, account reconciliations, accruals, and other accrual-basis accounting responsibilities for multiple clients.

• Work extensively within NetSuite to support accounting operations, reporting, dashboards, and financial processes.

• Identify repetitive or inefficient accounting processes and develop scalable solutions through templates, imports, saved searches, workflows, integrations, and automation.

• Improve and standardize the team's use of NetSuite across multiple client environments.

• Lead the systems and technology components of new client implementations, accounting cleanups, and process transitions.

• Partner directly with business owners and client teams to understand challenges, explain financial information, and recommend practical solutions.

• Develop and maintain documentation for accounting systems
