Step into a dynamic role supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter within an educational environment. In this contract position, you’ll collaborate with both special education and general education teams, providing essential communication access to students across multiple school sites. This full-time, full school year assignment is itinerant, requiring flexibility and strong organizational skills as you rotate between locations and work with a diverse range of students—mild to severe—inclusive settings.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter with an EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with PreK-12 students in educational settings
- Experience supporting both Special Education and General Education populations
- Skilled in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiar with various communication modalities
- Adaptable and comfortable working itinerantly across different sites
- Strong collaboration and communication abilities
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct interpreting services in classroom and school settings for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers using ASL and other appropriate methods
- Support instructional and extracurricular activities as assigned
- Maintain professional confidentiality and compliance with school policies
- Collaborate with staff to ensure integration into general and special education environments
- Complete necessary documentation and participate in IEP or team meetings as needed
