Key responsibilities include utilizing data regarding product factor and field performance to drive enterprise-wide quality improvement processes, conducting audits, resolving quality issues through root cause analysis, and developing in-process quality standards. This role also emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure quality-related activities align with organizational goals.
- Analyze production processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance product quality and reduce costs.
- Leverage advanced statistical tools to analyze product and process data, generating actionable insights for quality improvement.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to visually communicate key quality metrics and trends to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Continuous Improvement team to implement process improvements aligned with Lean and Six Sigma principles.
- Conduct periodic audits of in-process quality checklists, forms, and documentation to ensure compliance with standards.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of in-process quality standards that meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Lead the analysis of warranty claims to identify root causes and trends, implementing corrective actions to address recurring issues.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure their processes meet quality standards, conducting supplier quality audits as necessary.
- Develop and deliver training programs for staff to ensure adherence to quality processes and standards.
- Maintain and update policies, procedures, and standard work instructions as required.
- Assist in preparing for external audits and certifications (e.g., ISO, AS9100).
- Support quality-related activities in conjunction with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Supply Chain, and Customer Service.
- Develop clear, concise, and accurate documentation, including policies, procedures, and standard work instructions.
- Create technical training materials, SOPs, and visual guides for process and quality improvements.
- Translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly documentation for cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree required
- 5 years of manufacturing experience.
- Proven experience in a quality engineering, technician, or process/product quality-related role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train and mentor staff.
- Familiarity with document control systems to ensure proper management and version control of technical documents.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to implement and execute improvements.
- Familiarity with quality tools such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and control charts.
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and production environments.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to production noise and activity.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and conducting hands-on inspections and audits.
Preferred Skills and Competencies
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, and control charts.
- Certifications: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, or equivalent.
- Analytical Tools: Proficiency in using statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP) and data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work across departments to ensure cohesive quality strategies.
- Performance Indicators: Reduction in defect rates and rework costs, improved field performance, and timely resolution of quality issues.
