Pay Rate: $25.00–$28.00/hour on W2
Position Overview
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Social Media Coordinator to support the marketing and communications efforts of a well-established higher education institution. This short-term contract is ideal for a self-driven marketing professional or experienced freelancer who can quickly jump in, refresh digital content, and increase engagement across the organization's website and social media platforms.
The ideal candidate will have 3–4 years of experience managing social media, creating compelling content, updating websites, and collaborating with internal teams in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and update content across the organization's website to ensure information is accurate, engaging, and current.
- Plan, create, and publish content for social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.
- Develop creative copy, graphics, and campaigns that align with the organization's brand and marketing goals.
- Design engaging social media assets using Canva.
- Coordinate content calendars and maintain a consistent posting schedule.
- Monitor social media engagement and respond to comments or inquiries as appropriate.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather content, promote events, and highlight key initiatives.
- Utilize Slack for internal communication and project collaboration.
- Ensure all content maintains brand consistency and follows organizational guidelines.
Qualifications
- 3–4 years of professional experience in social media marketing, digital marketing, or communications.
- Experience managing business or organizational social media accounts.
- Strong copywriting and content creation skills.
- Experience updating website content using a Content Management System (CMS).
- Proficiency with Canva and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using Slack or similar collaboration tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Previous experience supporting higher education, nonprofit, or corporate marketing teams is a plus.
- Freelance or agency experience is highly preferred.
