Job Summary
We are seeking reliable, enthusiastic, and flexible candidates to join our afterschool clay art enrichment program. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to inspire young learners with our custom curriculum and air dry clay program.
Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate activities tailored to different age groups and skill levels
- Master the clay art curriculum, tools, and supplies
- Transport supplies from school to school
- Foster a positive, energetic atmosphere that encourages creativity, community, and active participation
- Manage group behavior effectively using classroom management and behavior management techniques
- Ensure the safety of all participants by implementing proper safety protocols and maintaining awareness of surroundings
- Assist the afterschool program with additional responsibilities including homework support, supervision, and transitions
- Collaborate with other staff members to create inclusive activities that accommodate children with diverse needs, including those in special education or early childhood education programs
Qualifications
- Experience working with elementary age students
- Knowledge of classroom management, behavior management strategies, and childhood development principles
- Certification in first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Background in air dry clay preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage young learners
- Ability to manage groups effectively while maintaining a safe environment
- Passion for art, creativity, and inspiring and empowering the youth
