Established Fine Art Gallery is looking for a gallery administrative assistant. Art gallery experience highly preferred (qualified internships included). At our 6,000 s.f. gallery, we exhibit renowned contemporary artists from around the world.
Must be extremely well organized and be able to multi-task and "shift gears" quickly with the daily task list. Must also be very detail-oriented.
Candidates with some art gallery experience and recent university graduates who are highly motivated to learn and grow into the position are encouraged to apply. Must be a fast learner and a self-starter.
Working with the Gallery Director, the gallery assistant will participate in a variety of functions including data entry, inventory management, invoicing, shipping coordination, gallery installations, typical gallery maintenance, assist in all details for art fairs and gallery events, running errands, etc. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. to assist with moving artwork, pedestals, etc.
Proficiency with Mac is required. Familiarity with Quickbooks, ArtLogic, Instagram and Artsy platforms is also preferred.
Normal gallery hours are Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm. Some evening and weekend hours may be required for special events, in addition to the work week. Final work week hours yet to be confirmed, but to start, the work days will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Bachelor's degree required.
Salary commensurate with experience.
Performance review after 90 days; the possibility for health insurance may be considered after 6 months if the position moves to full time.
