Position Overview
The Maître D’ role is responsible for creating a warm, polished, and welcoming first impression for every guest. As the primary steward of the reservation book and arrival experience, the Maître D’ helps manage guest flow, seating strategy, special requests, and VIP relationships while ensuring an exceptional level of hospitality from arrival through departure.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, guest-focused, and confident managing reservations and guest interactions in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Responsibilities
- Welcome guests and create a warm, professional, and personalized arrival experience
- Manage reservations, seating assignments, waitlists, and guest flow throughout service
- Maintain accurate guest notes, preferences, and special requests within reservation systems
- Communicate effectively with management, service, and kitchen teams regarding reservations, pacing, and guest needs
- Build relationships with regular guests and help cultivate repeat business
- Coordinate VIP visits, special occasions, and guest recovery opportunities
- Answer phones, manage reservation inquiries, and respond to guest questions professionally and promptly
- Monitor the entrance, dining room flow, and overall guest experience throughout service
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entrance area
- Support opening, closing, and administrative responsibilities related to reservations and guest communications
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in a host, maître d’, reservations, or guest relations role preferred
- Strong hospitality instincts and a passion for creating exceptional guest experiences
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Experience with reservation management systems preferred
- Ability to remain calm and professional while managing multiple priorities
- Strong attention to detail and guest preferences
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
