Job Overview
- Oversee daily/weekly schedules and staffing.
- Manage and control all facility-related costs including equipment, production, supplies, and transportation.
- Responsible for Production, Quality Assurance, Inventory Control, Sanitation, Maintenance, Purchasing, and employee supervision.
- Work closely with the Food Safety Manager to ensure internal and external audit compliance, OSHA guidelines, and third-party certification requirements.
- Ensure all Warehouse Management System procedures are followed and documented.
- Participate as a member of the product recall team.
- Provide leadership in motivation, evaluation, counseling, employee relations, and attendance management.
Health, Safety & Quality
- Establish, follow, and enforce safety standards and procedures; maintain regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with legal and safety departments to comply with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Build a strong safety culture focused on operator awareness and zero lost-time incidents.
- Initiate corrective actions for audit deficiencies.
Manufacturing Responsibilities
- Ensure order fulfillment, product traceability, and quality requirements are met daily.
- Train personnel on proper equipment use.
- Participate in solving operational problems.
- Prepare annual budgets and manage expenditures.
- Ensure preventative and predictive maintenance systems are effectively used for equipment and facility upkeep.
- Track vendor pricing and service performance.
- Develop, implement, and enforce operational policies and procedures across receiving, equipment utilization, production, inventory management, and shipping.
- Meet or exceed labor KPI targets (labor cost per pound, bags per minute, etc.)
- Review and approve operational invoices for payment.
- Serve as primary contact for customer issues related to equipment quality, service, or on-site incidents.
- Communicate customer issues to operations and develop solutions to improve service.
- Minimize product shrink and maximize yield.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Standing for extended periods.
- Frequent pushing, pulling, walking, kneeling, reaching.
- Constant hand use and firm grasping.
- Frequent lifting/carrying of 5–50 lbs.
- Regular exposure to temperatures between 36–45°F or lower.
- Exposure to chemicals such as chlorine.
- Overtime required; must have schedule flexibility (hours, weekends, holidays).
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Food Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 7–10 years of leadership experience in fresh produce or food manufacturing.
- Experience with ERP, WMS, or CMMS systems preferred.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing, quality control, and supply chain management.
- Proficient in budgeting and financial management.
- Knowledge of health/safety regulations and compliance standards.
