VP Finance & Accounting

StevenDouglas
Miami, FL Full Time
POSTED ON 7/11/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/9/2026

Our client is a family-managed consumer products company with international operations and a heritage that spans decades. The business has grown steadily, the brand carries genuine weight in its category, and ownership includes both an entrepreneurial founding family and sophisticated international partners who bring global governance experience to the board.

The role is open for the best possible reason. The current finance leader, a member of the ownership family, is elevating to a full-time board seat and deepening their involvement in the family's broader international operations. They will still act as a strategic partner and resource, which means the incoming executive inherits institutional knowledge rather than a vacuum.

This will be the company's first seasoned outside finance executive. The mandate is to professionalize the finance function, build infrastructure, develop a loyal and long-tenured team, and partner directly with the CEO on strategy. You will not inherit someone else's roadmap.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Own the full finance and accounting function, including month-end close, reporting, controls, and process improvement, with a hands-on approach (Will manage a lean team, so hands on accounting is very important)
  • Partner with the CEO as a true strategic voice on pricing, customer dynamics, and long-range planning
  • Lead and develop a team of roughly 5 direct and 8 indirect reports across finance HR, Supply Chain, IT and Operations
  • Assess the current state of the organization and design the future structure of the finance function
  • Strengthen reporting, controls, and decision support as the business scales
  • Represent finance to a board that blends family ownership with experienced international executives

What Makes This Opportunity Different

-Real influence

This is a business-partner seat, not a back-office role. The CEO is explicit that he wants a finance leader who can sit across from him and hold a strategic conversation, then go make it happen.

-A blank canvas with a strong foundation

The company is healthy and growing. You get to build the modern finance function on top of a successful business, which is a very different job than a turnaround.

-Ownership that thinks in generations

Family-managed companies with international backing make decisions for the long term. If you have grown tired of quarterly optics, this environment will feel refreshingly different.

-Succession of knowledge, not abandonment

The outgoing finance leader moves to the board and stays available as a resource. Few first-outside-executive roles come with that kind of support.

What We're Looking For

  • An accounting-first foundation: you started in public accounting or a pure accounting seat and have personally closed the books, posted journal entries, and done reconciliations. This is non-negotiable.
  • Bachelor's in Accounting
  • A strategic mind on top of that foundation: you can lead planning conversations, not just report on the past
  • A hands-on operator comfortable running close, reporting, and controls without a large support staff
  • A proven people leader who develops and retains teams
  • Small and mid-sized company DNA; candidates coming exclusively from very large enterprises will not be considered
  • Spanish fluency is a significant advantage but not required

Helpful but not required:

  • -CPA license
  • ERP implementation experience
  • Multi-entity exposure,
  • A background in manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, or other inventory-centric businesses
