Shift: 12-Hour Days, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Hours per Week: 36 hrs/week
About the Opportunity
We are seeking experienced ICU/PCU Float Registered Nurses for a travel assignment in Lufkin, TX. This role offers the opportunity to care for high-acuity patients across both ICU and PCU settings, with exposure to diverse cases such as cardiac, post-surgical, and critical care emergencies. Nurses must be confident in titrating drips, managing vents, and working in a fast-paced environment where flexibility and skill are highly valued.
Unit Overview
- 24 ICU beds and 26 PCU beds
- ICU ratios: 2:1 (occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity)
- PCU ratios: 4:1
- Charting System: Allscripts – Paragon
- Intensivist in-house during the day; hospitalists available 24/7
- RT coverage 24/7 with vents, BiPAP, CPAP, and Airvo equipment
- Floating required between ICU and PCU, with occasional floating to other departments as needed
- Navy blue scrubs required
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced care to critically ill patients in ICU and stepdown patients in PCU
- Titrate and manage multiple critical drips including Levophed, amiodarone, heparin, precedex, propofol, cardene, nitro, neosynephrine, and dopamine
- Manage cardiac patients post-CABG or PCI, sepsis, DKA, and respiratory failure
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure safe patient outcomes
- Float as needed between ICU, PCU, and other areas of the hospital
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of critical care experience
- Active RN license in the state of Texas (or compact)
- Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS
- Strong experience with vents, titratable drips, and high-acuity patients
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
Education
- ASN or BSN in Nursing
