Sterling Search Partners is helping a client with its search for a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the manufacturing business while ensuring accurate financial reporting, cost accounting, inventory analysis, and compliance with GAAP. This position plays a key role in the monthly close process, financial analysis, budgeting, and continuous process improvements. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, manufacturing accounting experience, and the ability to partner with operations to improve financial performance.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
- Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial records are accurate and complete.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, labor variances, overhead absorption, and production efficiencies.
- Assist with inventory accounting, including cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliations.
- Monitor inventory reserves and obsolete inventory.
- Prepare and analyze standard cost updates and manufacturing cost reports.
- Perform variance analysis for materials, labor, and overhead and communicate results to management.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Assist with month-end inventory valuation and cost roll-ups.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare sales, use, and property tax support as needed.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
- Develop and improve accounting procedures and internal processes.
- Partner with operations, purchasing, supply chain, and production leaders to improve financial performance.
- Prepare management reports and financial analyses for leadership.
- Support ERP system maintenance and implementation projects as assigned.
- Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Minimum 3 years of manufacturing accounting or cost accounting experience preferred.
