Sterling Engineering is looking for an Advanced Assembler / Test Technician in Chicago, IL. This opportunity is with a well-established manufacturing organization supporting critical electrical infrastructure and offering long-term career growth.
Shift:
- Monday-Thursday: 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- Overtime required 2-3 Fridays per month
- Assemble and test IntelliRupter and power quality products using bills of material, blueprints, schematics, and engineering change notices.
- Perform mechanical assemblies including disconnect assemblies.
- Run units through multiple test and assembly stations in a fast-paced production environment.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues as they arise.
- Perform high-voltage testing, including:
- Timing tests (425 VDC)
- Partial discharge tests (50 kV AC)
- Dielectric testing (60-70 kV AC)
- Calibration testing (8.7-18 kV AC, up to 600 amps)
- Three-phase high-voltage testing (8.7-18 kV AC, 20-45 amps)
- Maintain compliance with all safety standards and procedures.
- High-voltage electrical experience required (5 kV / 3-phase).
- Ability to read and work from complex blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience using machining tools, hand tools, wiring equipment, torque tools, and related equipment.
- 2 years of electronic assembly and wiring experience with high voltage preferred.
- Technical degree or trade school background in electrical or mechanical disciplines preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to meet physical demands, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Respirator certification required.
