We are seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated Legal Analyst to provide legal, organizational, and decision-making support to the IHCDA Legal Department. This role assists Legal Counsel with process-oriented legal responses (foreclosures, bankruptcies, lien releases), tracks Sheriff's sales, prepares contracts and amendments, manages case files, and maintains the SharePoint contracts database.

Location: 30 South Meridian Street, Suite 900, Indianapolis, IN 46204
Work Arrangement: 100% On-site (37.5 hours/week; must currently reside in Indiana)
Role Type: Contract (10/12/2026 – 01/15/2027; 3-month engagement)

Key Responsibilities
- Legal Response Preparation: Assist Legal Counsel in drafting and preparing responses to foreclosure actions, bankruptcy actions, mortgage/lien releases, and other formal legal process requests.
- Case & Sale Tracking: Monitor and track the status of active foreclosure cases and Sheriff’s sales involving IHCDA.
- Contract & Document Drafting: Prepare legal documents, draft initial contracts, amendments, internal reports, and correspondence for court officials, outside counsel, and program stakeholders.
- Database & File Management: Maintain, review, and make accurate data updates to the SharePoint contracts database; organize and maintain confidential case and project files.
- E-Filing & Transmittal: Transmit legal correspondence and court filings via electronic filing systems, mail, fax, or messenger.
- Special Projects: Coordinate meetings, track project progress, conduct records/legal research, and analyze incoming legal department mail.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education or Experience: Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree (such as a Paralegal degree/certificate) OR at least 2 years of legal support experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or government setting.
- Tenure: Minimum 2 years of experience with the same employer/position.
- Residency: Must currently reside in the State of Indiana and be able to commute on-site to Indianapolis.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and solid foundational skills in Microsoft Excel and SharePoint.
- Core Competencies: Strong legal research skills, high detail orientation, ability to handle sensitive/confidential records, logical thinking, and independent task prioritization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with Indiana state government, public housing authorities, or housing finance agency regulations.
- Familiarity with Indiana mortgage foreclosure laws, bankruptcy procedures, and Sheriff's sale processes.
