The Department of Health Services (DHS) , Northern Wisconsin Center (NWC) is recruiting to fill a Limited Term Employment (LTE) Teacher in Chippewa Falls, WI.
NWC is a short-term assessment and treatment facility for individuals who have an intellectual disability as well as a mental illness and aggressive or challenging behaviors. The programming is designed to prepare people to live successfully in a community setting. Position Summary
As an LTE Teacher, you will complete functional and standardized assessments, develop individual education plans and provide classroom instruction for students with developmental disabilities and mental illness.
Salary Information
The starting pay is between $29.00 and $32.00 per hour depending upon qualifications. An add-on of up to $2.97 per hour is available for relevant credits that are above those required for certification.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 13/04.
Job Details
All applicants will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by the NWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.

- LTE positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to a permanent civil service classified position and do not lead to permanent status.
- Wisconsin residency is required for LTE positions.
- No more than 1039 hours may be worked in a 12-month period.

- Certified or eligible* for certification as a Teacher by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI).
Well-qualified applicants will also have the following:
- Licensed or eligible** for licensure as a Teacher by the Wisconsin DPI in one of the following areas: Special Education - Cross-Categorical, Learning Disabilities - Secondary, Emotionally Behavioral Disabilities, or Cognitive Disabilities.
