Introduction
Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center (SRSTC) within the Department of Health Services (DHS) is recruiting to fill a full time Client Rights Facilitator position in Mauston. Work hours are typically 7:45 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
SRSTC opened in 2001 and provides care and treatment for several different patient populations. The center houses Wisconsin’s Sexually Violent Persons Program, provides care and treatment for persons found not guilty by reasons of mental disease or mental defect, and provides court ordered treatment, testing, and education to patients found not competent to stand trial. As a Client Rights Facilitator, you will be responsible for the following duties:
The starting pay is between $29.00 and $32.57 per hour (approximately between $60,130 and $67,700 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 12/64.
Job Details
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility after their start date.
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.

As a Client Rights Facilitator, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Implementing the Client Rights Program at Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center (SRSTC) and the Supervised Release Program and assuring patients’ rights to prompt and adequate care that safeguards personal dignity and respect of cultural, psychosocial and spiritual values.
- Overseeing the processing of grievances.
- Providing consultation regarding patient rights.
- Educating and training staff, students and patients and/or their families/guardians about client rights.
- Developing policies and procedures consistent with client rights legislation.
- Supervising students.
- Assisting with improving patient outcomes at SRSTC and Supervised Release by respecting each patient’s rights and conducting business relationships with patients and the public in an ethical manner.

- Experience or training conducting investigations (e.g., interviewing witnesses, conducting research, reviewing evidence, etc.).
- Training or experience advocating for client or patient rights.
- Experience using Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Experience providing consultation, technical assistance, or training regarding patient or client rights or grievance procedures.
- Experience working with individuals with mental illness.
- Experience working in a secure treatment or correctional facility.
