This job exists to ensure the accurate and efficient management of the agency's financial records, with a focus on maintaining the general ledger, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting internal and external audits. The position is responsible for overseeing complex financial transactions, providing guidance and training to staff, and ensuring the agency meets financial deadlines. Additionally, it plays a key role in the preparation for and execution of the annual audit process, working with internal and external stakeholders to produce accurate financial statements and ensure audit readiness.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in business administration, economics, accounting, finance, or auditing and six (6) years of experience in accounting, business administration, public administration, finance, or auditing, to include (2) years of managerial or supervisory experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling ten (10) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.

- Maintain accurate general ledger and guide staff on financial transactions
- Validate deposits, review purchase orders, invoices, and contracts
- Audit payment vouchers, budget journals, payroll, and cash reconciliations
- Create journal entries, compile backup documentation, and correct the ledger
- Coordinate year-end deadlines and lead the annual external audit
- Create financial schedules and collaborate on audit requests for accurate financial statements
