Why does the job exist?
The Financial Supervisor is responsible for financial administration and revenue at the New Mexico Museum of Art, including management of the front desk team. The Financial Supervisor works with staff across the Museum on procurement of essential goods and services for all aspects of Museum operations. They are responsible for processing all financial documents of the New Mexico Museum of Art, including accounts that are tied to funds administered by the Museum of New Mexico Foundation for the benefit of the New Mexico Museum of Arts.
How does it get done?
This position is responsible for processing all financial documents of the New Mexico Museum of Art for the two locations that encompass the New Mexico Museum of Art on the Plaza and Vladem Contemporary in the Railyard. The financial work includes accounts that are tied to funds administered by the Museum of New Mexico Foundation for the benefit of the New Mexico Museum of Art. The position is responsible for preparing and maintaining museum budgets, processing all accounts payables, processing accounts receivable for rentals, special events, reproductions, and admissions, and contributing financial information for grant reports. The fiscal demands of this position require both the ability to process a high volume of financial documents and in-depth experience in accounting procedures, annual budget preparation, and accounting software. This work requires advanced usage of the Department of Cultural Affairs Administrative Services Division processes and the state SHARE financial system.
This position will also supervise revenue-generating positions at the Museum, including front desk staff, track revenue for the Museum, and train staff in best practices and working with the Department of Cultural Affairs Administration Services Division to ensure the Museum is following best practices.

This position serves residents of the State of New Mexico; staff and patrons of the New Mexico Museum of Art on the Plaza and Vladem Contemporary; staff of the Museum of New Mexico Foundation; and staff of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Business Administration and three (3) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, preparing Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports, and conducting financial audits. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive computer and phone usage. Position continuously works Microsoft Office Suite and financial software. Weekend and evening work may be necessary. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
