The chosen candidate will be compensated at a rate of $27.783578 per hour. This rate is non-negotiable.
Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.
Why does the job exist?
This position performs routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance on General Services Department Facilities Management Division (GSD/FMD) facilities to help ensure buildings, equipment, and grounds remain safe, functional, and well maintained. The position completes a variety of maintenance tasks, identifies and repairs routine facility issues, performs preventative maintenance, and follows established safety procedures to support the daily operation of state facilities.

Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalent and six (6) months of experience in general building and grounds maintenance, custodial duties, construction, or appliance repair. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a current and valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, requiring heavy lifting, climbing, kneeling and bending for extended periods. Therefore, a certain degree of physical stamina and strength is crucial for this profession. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., stand for extended periods of time, climb ladders, work in inclement weather (cold and hot) Must be able to carry tools and equipment from building to building on large campuses. Will be on periodic "on call" for emergencies, including weekends and holidays.

- Perform routine preventative maintenance and repair of state-owned facilities and equipment.
- Complete basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building maintenance tasks. Inspect buildings and equipment to identify maintenance needs and recommend or complete repairs.
- Repair or replace worn or damaged building components and equipment to maintain safe and efficient operations.
- Operate, maintain, and properly use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Ensure work is completed in compliance with established safety standards, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and materials used.
- Support seasonal and emergency operations, including snow removal and other facility-related response activities.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and functional environment for employees and visitors.
