Aging and Long-Term Services Department's (ALTSD) mission is the belief that New Mexico's older adults and adults with disabilities have the right to remain active participants in their communities, to age with respect and dignity, to be protected from abuse, neglect, and exploitation and to have equal access to health care. The Long-Term Care Division (LTCD) at ALTSD administer community-based programs to allow older adults to thrive in their homes and communities to reduce nursing home placements and emergency department visits.

The Supervisor is responsible for the administration of the Kinship Caregiver program, carrying out the mission and strategic goals of the Division and of the Department. The position oversees all aspects of day-to-day operations. At the direction of the Coordinator of LTC Programs, the Kinship Caregiver Supervisor is responsible for:

Minimum Qualification
Associate's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Family Studies/Services, Social Sciences, or Human Services and two (2) years of experience as a social work assistant and/or in social or community coordination, working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, and/or behavioral health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Pre-employment background investigation is required. Must pass State and Federal criminal background check. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within 90 days of employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting and community setting with extensive use of the personal computer, telephone, fax, copier and other related office equipment. Occasional after hours and occasional weekends may be required. Statewide travel is required.

- Support the implementation and oversight of the Kinship Caregiver Program
- Oversee and supervise a team of Kinship Caregiver Navigators
- Provide supervision and guidance to a team of workers who make day-to-day decisions regarding families who may be in crisis, and identify services/resources needed
- Provide program oversight and ensure compliance and programs effectiveness while ensuring performance goals are met.
The Supervisor is responsible for the administration of the Kinship Caregiver program, carrying out the mission and strategic goals of the Division and of the Department. The position oversees all aspects of day-to-day operations. At the direction of the Coordinator of LTC Programs, the Kinship Caregiver Supervisor is responsible for:
- Provide program oversight and ensure compliance and programs effectiveness (approximately 50%)
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring the team meets and exceeds standards for performance
- Develop and refine policies and procedures for the Kinship Navigator Program
- Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements
- Ensure compliance and implementation of the program model by Kinship Navigators
- Analyze performance data and support continuous improvement
- Oversee data collection systems
- Develop and refine program policies and procedures
- Supervision of Staff (Approximately 35% of the time)
- Support the design, development, and implementation of staff training courses for Kinship Caregiver
- Provide effective training, direction, and evaluation of the program staff supervised.
- Provide technical assistance on needs assessment, data collection, and program outcomes.
- Support Quality and Accountability Assessments for case loads
- Engage with staff in-person and virtually
- Maintain knowledge of state and federal resources and benefits. -
- Other duties (Approximately 15% of the time)
- Collaborate and coordinate with program partners and state agencies.
- Oversee the implementation of funding sources.
- Participate in the development and improvement of pilot programs
