Within GSD, the Administrative Services Division (ASD) ensures efficient and effective financial management of both enterprise and general fund operations. Why does the job exist?
This position is responsible for examining, analyzing and reconciling the General Ledger/Capital Assets financial transactions for the Department. This position maintains the financial accounting records for fixed and capital assets, reports on these resources on behalf of the General Services Department (GSD) and manages assets assigned to GSD. This position is also responsible inventory reconciliation, inventory valuation adjustments to include the tracking and reconciliation of Construction in Progress for accurate financial statement presentation.

This position supports the General Services Department staff and program support team and will maintain an effective working relationship with the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA).

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration and four (4) years of directly related experience in budgeting, accounting, and/or auditing. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience. For use at the State Investment Council only: any budgeting, accounting, and/or auditing experience is acceptable.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Work extended hours and occasional travel may be required. Sitting/Standing, bending, squatting, climbing, and reaching for extended periods of time may be required.

How does it get done?
- Plans, organizes, and ensure timely completion of monthly and year-end financial closings within the established time frames.
- Plans, reviews and ensures accuracy, completeness and timeliness of reconciliation of accounts to include payroll reconciliation.
- Upload general ledger entries to SHARE.
- Analyze general ledger transactions for proper recording, problem identification and arriving at sound resolutions which include fixed assets, construction in progress, fund validations, payroll, inventories, operating transfers, and correcting journal entries.
- Deliver high-quality customer service by processing financial transactions efficiently and in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, and policies.
- Communicate effectively with management on general ledger issues.
