What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Specialist 5 position at State of Louisiana?
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Food Service Specialist Supervisor to serve as the shift supervisor over a group of lower-level Food Service Specialists and those engaged in activities in a food service operation.
Three years of training in food technology, food service management, or in a food service-related curriculum in a trade school or technical institute; OR
Thirty-six semester hours in food and nutrition, dietetics, food service preparation, home economics, or hotel, food service, restaurant, or institutional management.
The Food Service Specialist Supervisor:
- Provides direct and indirect supervision, guidance, and assistance to subordinates. Instructs subordinates in proper food preparation, serving, storage and cleaning.
- Reviews and evaluates the performance of subordinates, counsels employees, trains staff, and approves leave.
- Assists in food preparation and is responsible for the final food product.
- Prepares diet cards for patients and ensures that the cards are updated as ordered by the physicians.
- Maintains records of meals served and leftovers.

Compensation: This position includes a premium pay of $1.00 per hour for each hour physically worked.
Location: Dietary Department of the Northeast LA Veterans Home in Monroe, Louisiana
