The Louisiana Department of Insurance is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant 1/2/3 to join the Office of Management & Finance/Fiscal Division. In this position, you will assist with financial reporting, account reconciliation, budget and expenditure tracking, and other fiscal operations that support the agency’s daily business functions. Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR
An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
As an Accountant 1/2/3 in the Office of Management & Finance/Fiscal Division, you will/may:
- Prepare, review, and maintain financial reports, records, and accounting documentation.
- Monitor, reconcile, and track revenues, expenditures, budgets, and related fiscal transactions.
- Process and review financial information for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
- Assist with account reconciliations, audits, financial analysis, and fiscal reporting activities.
- Maintain organized fiscal records and documentation while handling confidential financial information appropriately.
- Communicate professionally with agency staff, vendors, auditors, and other stakeholders regarding fiscal and accounting matters.
- Review purchases, invoices, contracts, or payment-related documentation for compliance and accuracy.
- Utilize accounting systems, spreadsheets, and other financial software to support fiscal operations and reporting.
- Assist with budget preparation, expenditure monitoring, and financial forecasting activities.
- Participate in training and ongoing learning related to accounting procedures, financial systems, and state fiscal policies.
- Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Compensation: The salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience within the established pay range.
