State Compensation Insurance Fund is looking for a safety professional to join our team who will provide occupational safety and health services to our insured employers in the San Diego & Imperial County Region. The safety staff are field employees, who work in the region they serve.
You will be working with:
• Employers with small to medium size workforces, risks of mid-level complexity
• Employers may have multiple locations
• Employers with significant losses related to easily identifiable hazards and industrial operations with mid-range sophistication
• Employers who need Specialized services of lesser complexity, such as industrial hygiene services (i.e. noise dosimetry) or ergonomic surveys of their job sites

The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period in accordance with the applicable bargaining contract. The salary range(s) included on this job posting do not reflect the reduction in pay.
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
We are seeking for self-driven, people-oriented safety professionals with the following qualifications and skills:
• Must be able to assess workplace injury/illness risk based on business operations to improve safety
• Adept at interpreting workplace safety regulations regarding workers’ compensation and occupational safety and health
• Ability to interpret charts graphs and mechanical relationships.
• Proficient at public presentations in order to train employees and employers
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Self-motivated and work with minimal direct supervision - Team player
• Effective written and oral communication. This includes strong report writing skills with a variety of report writing software
• Ability to document effectively, using non-technical terms and vocabulary that will be clearly understood by employers
• Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Associate in Risk Management (ARM)
Designations are a plus but not required for this position
Salary : $79,752 - $99,888
