Job Summary
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist in providing direct behavior support and behavior intervention strategies for severely handicapped students who may have extreme behavior issues; In collaboration with the classroom teacher and behavior analyst, support with approved proactive strategies for de-escalation, monitoring of behavior, provide direct physical interventions when necessary, and complete written documentation of intervention after the occurrence of behavior emergencies.
Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and at least two years experience, paid or voluntary, working with children/individuals with disabilities; AND one of the following: possession of an Associate’s degree or higher, at least 48 college semester units or pass the (ESSA) Every Student Succeeds Act exam. College coursework or equivalent training hours in social skills, Applied Behavior Analysis, and direct instruction is desirable. LICENSE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Complete approved SCOE Crisis Intervention Program within six (6) months of employment and maintain valid certification. Some positions in this class may be required to possess bilingual skills in a designated second language. Some positions in this class may be required to possess sign language skills. Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Requires driving a SCOE vehicle ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS: The following documents are not required at the time of application but will be required of the selected applicant prior to employment: • DOJ Fingerprint clearance • TB clearance • Pre-Employment Drug Screen/Lift clearance
