Requirements
- Previous machine-shop experience building or repairing tooling
- Strong manual machining skills required
- Experience operating manual lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses
- Ability to read and interpret prints
- Ability to machine parts to tight tolerances
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to complete urgent tooling repairs efficiently
- CAD, CAM, or CNC experience is a plus but not required
- Must be able to perform skilled machining work independently; this is not an entry-level training position
Job Duties
- Build and repair tooling used in the extrusion process
- Manufacture and maintain dies, calibration tooling, sizing tooling, and fixtures
- Produce and repair machine parts
- Operate manual lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses
- Read prints and translate specifications into finished components
- Machine and inspect parts to ensure they meet tight tolerances
- Troubleshoot damaged or worn tooling
- Complete time-sensitive repairs to minimize production downtime
- Maintain accurate, consistent workmanship
- Keep tools, equipment, and the work area clean and organized
- Support production with tooling repairs and replacement parts as needed
