Full-Time Lead Custodian | Head Custodian | Boiler Licensed Professional

Hours & Pay
Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour
Schedule:
- School Year: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
- Summer: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Daily Responsibilities - School Year
- Open the building on school days and raise the flag; secure the building after the school day begins
- Inspect and maintain gymnasiums each morning, including dust mopping, gum removal, and spot mopping as needed
- Sweep corridors and check restrooms after the school day begins and again after lunch
- Maintain safe access during snow events by clearing walkways, entrances, and parking lot paths; apply ice melter as needed
- Perform custodial care of cafeteria and stage areas, including daily setup/cleanup and weekly auto-scrubbing
- Distribute custodial supplies to workrooms as requested
- Oversee the recycling program and coordinate with the kitchen and school staff to ensure compliance
Maintenance & Operational Duties
- Perform maintenance and repairs to existing plumbing, electrical systems, furniture, door hardware, classroom equipment, exhaust fans, CUH units, and custodial equipment
- Conduct monthly checks of district vehicles
- Maintain safety equipment, including eyewash stations and fire extinguishers
- Communicate supply shortages to supervisors
- Perform weekend boiler duties as assigned
- Inspect and straighten the building after school activities when needed
- Address staff needs promptly and professionally through proper channels
- Follow all manufacturer instructions for chemicals, equipment, and tools
- Report any work-related injuries immediately
- Follow established yearly schedules and procedures
- Fill sanitary dispensers quarterly
- Return all ladders and tools to proper storage locations after use
Summer & Winter Break Responsibilities
- Clean and repair school equipment per the annual schedule or as directed
- Strip, seal, and wax floors as assigned
- Perform painting projects as directed
Qualifications & Requirements
- Boiler license required
- Ideally 1st or 2nd Class License
- Candidates with a Special License may be considered if willing and eligible to test for 2nd Class
- Non-entry-level position with relevant custodial and building maintenance experience
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently
- Commitment to safety, professionalism, and timely communication
