Staff Management Group is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for our client in Lyndhurst, NJ. Please read the ENTIRE job description and ALL of the job requirements BEFORE applying for this position.

- 1st Shift: 4AM - 12:30PM
- Monday - Friday
- Plus Overtime
Pay Rate:
- $30 / hour
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing routine repairs, troubleshooting issues, and supporting facility and equipment maintenance across the warehouse. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to diagnose problems independently, and proficiency with hand tools and basic electrical systems.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working flexible hours within the company’s operating schedule. Saturday work is uncommon and will always be scheduled in advance.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on warehouse equipment and building systems
- Use hand tools, power tools, VOMs, levels, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and identify root causes with minimal supervision
- Complete work orders, document repairs, and communicate progress to supervisors
- Identify parts needed for repairs or preventive maintenance and submit requests
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times
- Support minor repairs on forklifts and other warehouse machinery
- Assist with basic electrical work, including troubleshooting simple circuits
- Perform basic HVAC tasks such as replacing filters, belts, and cleaning components
- Support conveyor system maintenance and monitor equipment performance
- Assist with general building maintenance as needed
- Report observed issues promptly and recommend corrective actions
Job Requirements:
- MUST be bilingual - English AND Spanish
- Proficiency with basic hand tools, power tools, VOMs, levels, and diagnostic equipment
- Foundational knowledge of electrical systems, including basic troubleshooting
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain issues clearly
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently when needed
- Experience with conveyor systems, basic building repairs, minor forklift maintenance, and basic HVAC tasks preferred
- Ability to take ownership of assigned work and maintain detailed documentation
- Flexible availability within operating hours; occasional scheduled Saturday work
- Strong problem-solving skills and a diagnostic mindset.
