Job Description
Position: Cemetery Manager
Supervisor: Lead Pastor
Status: Part-Time (Average 10 hours per week; serves as the primary on-call contact for cemetery operations.)
Position Summary
The Cemetery Manager is responsible for the administration, coordination, and stewardship of St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery. This position provides compassionate service to families during times of loss while ensuring accurate recordkeeping, respectful maintenance of the cemetery, and coordination with funeral homes, contractors, and church staff. The Cemetery Manager serves as the primary point of contact for all cemetery-related matters.

Essential Responsibilities
- Meet with families regarding cemetery services, plot purchases, and burial arrangements.
- Sell cemetery lots and prepare and issue deeds.
- Maintain accurate burial, ownership, and cemetery records using the cemetery management software.
- Schedule burials and coordinate all cemetery services with funeral homes, clergy, monument companies, and contractors.
- Mark foundation locations and oversee monument foundation requests.
- Collect payments, burial permits, and other required documentation.
- Oversee subcontractors, groundskeepers, and maintenance vendors to ensure the cemetery is maintained with dignity and respect.
- Monitor cemetery equipment and maintenance needs and communicate repairs as necessary.
- Conduct regular inspections of the cemetery grounds (at least twice weekly) to ensure the property is safe, attractive, and well maintained.
- Research burial records and genealogy requests as time permits.
- Continue the organization, preservation, and digitization of historical cemetery records.
- Maintain regular communication with the pastors and church leadership regarding cemetery operations.
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
