POSITION SUMMARYAn Industrial Painter prepares, paints, and finishes signs and related components using various
painting techniques, tools, and materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming materials
- Mix paints, coatings, and finishes to achieve required colors and textures
- Apply paint using spray guns, brushes, rollers, or other equipment
- Paint metal, plastic, wood, acrylic, and other sign materials
- Inspect finished products for quality, consistency, and defects
- Maintain paint booths, spray equipment, and work areas in clean and safe condition
- Follow production schedules and meet project deadlines
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and design specifications
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and proper handling of hazardous materials
- Assist with sign assembly or finishing tasks as needed
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of paint booth equipment, spray guns, filters, and
REQUIREMENTS SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with commercial painting, manufacturing or automotive painting
- Experience using spray equipment, orbital sanders, grinders, or finishing tools
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely
- Ability to read tape measures and drawings/blueprints
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Good attention to detail and quality control
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift materials up to 50 pounds (lbs)
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, manual dexterity, and reach overhead
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights greater than six feet
- Ability to tolerate repetitive motions
- Ability to pass respiratory medical clearance and respirator fit testing
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous forklift and/or crane experience
- OSHA 10 certification
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work performed in a manufacturing and fabrication facility
- Ability to perform duties in a paint booth setting with exposure to paint fumes, chemicals, and
- Environment may be dusty, noisy, and non-temperature controlled
- Exposure to adhesives, chemicals, and fabrication equipment
- Exposure to heat conditions during the curing process
- Environment containing flammable products
- Exposure to electrical components
- Use of PPE including safety shoes, respirator, and safety glasses required
- Additional PPE, including a face shield, gloves, and an apron, is required when mixing or
