The Executive Director administers, directs and coordinates all programs and activities of the facility, per established policies and procedures with general direction from the Corporate Office/CEO. Utilizes management skills to create a strong team of professionals that work together to deliver a high standard of services to residents and maintain cooperation between departments. Develops long and short-range objectives to assure that facility programs, procedures and resident care are maintained at the highest possible level of excellence, ensuring compliance with all state and local regulations, continually working toward improving resident, family, employee and public relations.
The qualified candidate will Interpret the philosophy and goals of the Assisted Living Facility, ensuring that employees have the required training, skills and knowledge and practice good resident relations and care. The Executive Director will demonstrate desired supervisory techniques and resident and family interaction while delegating appropriate responsibility to the Department Heads to ensure a well-run facility.
- Develops a program to assure staff adherence to Resident Rights.
- Monitors medical reporting, staffing, and procedures to assure compliance. Acts as liaison between the community and regulatory agencies.
- Evaluates the quality of resident care and the efficiency of services in order to maintain care standards by continually reviewing goals, objectives, budgets, resident care plans and adherence to Consultant policy and procedures.
- Coordinates the development of and disseminates written personnel policies and procedures including job descriptions, employee expectation, benefits and performance appraisals in cooperation with the Director of Human resources.
- Promotes productivity and employee morale by providing a positive working environment and recognition for quality work.
- Coordinates departmental activities to assure departments work together toward the achievement of goals by developing an information and communication system between departments which keeps the entire organization informed.
- Communicates with staff to solve problems through the selection of appropriate communication techniques, staff meetings, counseling and coordination of written information.
- Periodically evaluates staff morale and productivity while identifying and resolving potential issues.
- Interprets and directs staff on federal and state regulations as they relate to the facility to assure compliance and efficient integration of these regulations with established policies and procedures at the facility.
- Develops a professional relationship with DON and maintains strong relationships with medical practitioners including attending physicians.
- Recruits and hires supervisors who are qualified to meet the requirements of their position, recommends or establishes wage and salary scales which attract competent staff while maintaining expenses within budget.
- Recommends and attends professional development training courses for self and staff to ensure knowledge of all codes and regulations.
- Maintains a safe and productive working environment for staff through the use of regular inspections, allocation of resources for facility maintenance and dining services.
- Prepares budget and allocates resources to meet the facilities financial and program objectives.
- Ensures resident care through planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing services to maintain maximum health potential, including reviewing the coordination of medical and pharmacy services, and ensuring appropriate social activities.
- Coordinates the development of a budget which assures allocation of fiscal resources to meet regulatory requirements and provide services to residents at a reasonable cost in conjunction with the fiscal department.
- Evaluates the implication of budge on the quality of care, using generally accepted accounting practices.
- Establishes financial controls and checks and balances to keep facility operations within budget.
- Projects income and identifies revenue sources to meet financial goals of the community.
- Analyzes current financial performance to ensure conformance with long term goals and standards of quality.
- Plans, implements and evaluates a public relations and marketing program along with the Marketing Director to establish and maintain community relationships which enhance the positive image of the facility in the community by providing outreach services and information while establishing and enhancing relationships among residents, their families and the facility.
- Plan, implements and evaluates a marketing program that advertises the services of the facility to ensure a constant stream of revenue.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid Licensed Assisted Living Administrator certification.
- Requires a minimum of two or more years of supervisory experience in an Assisted Living or related healthcare facility.
- Must have knowledge of facility maintenance codes, regulations, and requirements, including those from the Department of Health and Human Services.
- Excellent communication skills are essential.
- Must be able to effectively address elder care issues and interact professionally with residents, their families, and staff.
