SUMMARY
Experienced civil/highway engineering leader to manage a transportation design department, drive project delivery excellence, and mentor a growing team. Own execution across the full project lifecycle, partner closely with clients and internal leadership, and elevate quality, schedule, and financial outcomes on complex roadway initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide day-to-day leadership of the transportation/highway design function, ensuring technical quality, cost control, and on-time delivery.
- Guide project approach, scope, budget, and schedules in collaboration with regional/office leadership; champion innovative design solutions and strategic teaming opportunities.
- Serve as a senior technical resource with strong engineering judgment; set standards for quality assurance and risk management.
- Mentor and train designers/engineers; build capabilities in geometric design, plans production, and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Engage directly with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to clarify needs, resolve design/permitting issues, and maintain high satisfaction.
- Support and advise project managers across a portfolio of transportation assignments from planning through construction support.
- Promote best practices aligned with DOT/turnpike authority processes and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 20 years of experience in highway/transportation design with progressive leadership responsibility.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree may substitute for two years of experience).
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (multistate licensure a plus).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, including proposal and presentation skills; strong problem-solving orientation.
- Full-time leadership capacity with proven record of delivering quality and financial excellence.
