- Lead supplier management efforts and resources such that all roles involved in supplier development and ongoing supplier management support each other for an effective supplier management team within Spectrum Plastics.
- Approve all new suppliers in conjunction with the Senior Quality Manager.
- Ensure that the Commercial requirements for purchased items or services are clearly identified, communicated, and managed.
- Develop, implement and maintain systems to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of Spectrum Plastics’s supplier management processes.
- Assess suppliers & potential suppliers for their position as a competitor to Spectrum Plastics, implementing and following appropriate guidelines & safeguards to appropriately protect Spectrum Plastics confidential information.
- Provide direct leadership for all aspects of the Purchasing, Planning, Shipping, Receiving, Stock Room and inventory management functions
- Lead and develop the Planning group to maximize manufacturing efficiencies without compromising delivery and inventory goals
- Meet customer delivery requirements in the most efficient manner while maintaining the lowest level of inventory costs possible
- Provide leadership for the efficient management, movement, storage and conversion of raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods; including the aged inventory process
- Develop and manage customer consigned inventories, VMI, and third party warehousing solutions
- Develop and implement industry best practices for inventory management and schedule attainment
- Requires coordination and collaboration with key areas of the business including Manufacturing Managers, Development groups, Client Services, Business Continuity Managers, Quality, suppliers, and customers
- Daily production planning for all areas
- Sample planning
- Demand planning & Capacity planning
- Sourcing planning
- Transportation coordination (inbound & out bound)
- Order promising, accounting for all constraints in the supply chain, including all suppliers, outsourcing, manufacturing operations, customer forecasting.
- Establishment & maintenance of lead times and standard calc quantities
- Inventory management
- Work closely with the Client Services Specialists and Business Continuity Managers to develop and maintain inventory solutions to satisfy customer needs without compromising Spectrum Plastics’ business objectives
- Lead activities and develop systems to continually shorten lead times and reduce inventory costs while maintaining high levels of delivery performance for our customers
- Develop and recommend ERP system enhancements; develop “super users” of our ERP system
- Responsibility to protect Spectrum Plastics confidential information and Intellectual Property
- Responsibility to perform risk analysis appropriate to the product and the company
- Follow safety requirements as outlined in the safety manual
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management or supply chain operations, preferably within the plastics or manufacturing industry.
- Proven track record of managing inventory, procurement, and logistics processes effectively.
- Experience in leading and developing a team to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and inventory management software.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans to optimize materials flow and reduce costs.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards related to materials management.
