Job Summary/Company:
Sparks Group is partnered with a thriving and profitable construction organization seeking a detail-oriented professional to support end-to-end payroll operations and general accounting functions. This role is essential for maintaining the accuracy of compensation data, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing reliable financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
- All activities regarding the process of employee compensation, from timecard entries to direct deposits.
- Weekly submittal of certified payroll reports.
- Weekly and monthly contribution reporting and payments for 401k, HSA, child support, etc.
- Assisting in monthly payroll accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Maintaining the PTO and benefit spreadsheets.
- Assisting with other payroll tasks as required.
- Protect the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
Qualifications/Background Profile:
- 3 years of professional experience in a combined payroll and accounting role.
- Technical proficiency in industry-standard software (ideally construction-focused platforms like Foundation, Sage, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage complex benefit spreadsheets and multi-task across cross-functional teams.
- High degree of integrity regarding the handling of sensitive employee information and strict adherence to federal and state labor regulations.
- Industry background in construction, engineering, or design-build environments is considered a distinct advantage.
