What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Sparks Group?
Job Summary/Company:
Sparks Group has partnered with a growing government consulting firm to find a Controller. As the Controller you will be hands-on managing a small team. You will be responsible for overseeing a dedicated accounting team and managing all day-to-day financial operations, driving a seamless monthly close process to ensure accurate and timely reporting, maintaining strict adherence to GAAP and government contracting compliance standards. You will bridge the gap between accounting execution and financial strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Direct all monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring general ledger integrity and the delivery of accurate, GAAP-compliant financial statements.
- Oversee complex revenue recognition (CP, T&M, FFP) and ensure rigorous compliance with DCAA guidance, indirect rate monitoring, and incurred cost submissions.
- Partner with executive leadership to provide critical financial insights, manage budgeting and forecasting, and monitor overall cash flow and organizational financial health.
- Drive operational excellence within Deltek Costpoint, managing project setup, billing accuracy, and the maintenance of robust internal controls and accounting policies.
- Lead and develop a small professional accounting staff while supervising essential functions, including payroll accounting, accruals, and audit support.
Qualifications/Background Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; preferably CPA
- Minimum of 10 years accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities within government contractor accounting.
- Strong experience using Deltek Costpoint
- Knowledge of GAAP, job cost accounting, and DCAA compliance
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial planning as well as supporting financial audits and compliance reviews.
Salary : $135,000 - $150,000
