**Position Summary**

Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded TRIO program situated within the Division of Student Affairs designed to serve students at Southern Utah University who meet at least one, if not more, of the following criteria: 1) low income, 2) first generation, and/or 3) have a documented disability. The vision of this program is to retain and graduate its student participants at the highest possible rate and grade point average from Southern Utah University.

**Essential Functions**

  • Maintain a student caseload and provide academic, career, and financial advice to included students; allocate appropriate caseload assignments to full- and part-time project staff.
  • Oversees the overall implementation of the TRIO- SSS grant; administers the program budget and authorizes expenditures of federal funds in collaboration with the Executive Director of Belonging and Engagement.
  • Develops, directs, and evaluates SSS Program in accordance with all federal regulations/EDGAR related to directing SSS projects. Design and implement program policies and procedures, and coordinate with U.S. Department of Education program officer regarding program management and compliance.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises full-time and part-time staff and facilitates regular staff meetings. Maintains high-quality job standards and performance goals for subordinate staff and effectively evaluates staff under charge.
  • With support from project staff, complete and submit - per USDOE 10 instructions - the Annual Performance Report (APR), Interim Performance Report, and other reports for the Department of Education; as well as the SSS grant application every five years.
  • Using collected data, evaluate the SSS program and design innovative initiatives to support the retention and completion of associated students.
  • Document and maintain records of all students served by SSS. Maintain accurate electronic and hard copy records as required by the US Department of Education.
  • Responsible for establishing robust program goals centering the academic achievement, persistence, and graduation for the students enrolled in the program and potential program participants.
  • Attend relevant professional development training/meetings (i.e. COE, ASPIRE, NASPA) to bring new innovative ideas to SSS and to stay current on federal regulations and changes.
  • Facilitate program-sponsored events in collaboration with project staff; coordinate public relations initiatives for the project, and foster an institutional climate to support SSS's mission, goals, and objectives; disseminate USDOE and TRiO-related information to project staff, students, and to the wider SUU community.
  • Other duties as assigned.

**Education & Experience**

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Psychology, Counseling, Educational Administration, Student Personnel, Public Administration, or related field required.
  • Three years of successful administrative experience in a human services or e

ducation program, including supervision and evaluation of staff, proven budget management skills, and program design and implementation.

  • Proven management and leadership abilities, experience planning and independently executing projects/tasks within specific deadlines, and exercising good judgment while successfully assessing, balancing, and prioritizing numerous competing concerns.
  • Experience in grant and report writing and program evaluation.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, m diation, and counseling skills.
  • Record of successful work with low-income and academically disadvantaged students.
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to place students' needs first in decision-making.
  • Proven fiscal management and budget development skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with TRIO projects or similar programs.
  • Experience leading and motivating campus partners outside of the organization to create successful partnerships, programs, and initiatives.
