DESCRIPTION:
The Substitute School Nurse provides health services and emergency care to students and staff in the absence of the regular school nurse. This position plays a key role in supporting student wellness and ensuring that all health-related needs are addressed promptly and effectively throughout the school day. Please note that this is an on-call position.
OUR STUDENTS: Southeastern is a diverse, multicultural vocational technical high school, which serves over 1700 students. The students balance the rigors of a complete academic course of studies with technical skill training in over 20 career majors. Our students are prepared for college, career, and/or additional technical training.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administer first aid and emergency care to students and staff according to established procedures.

Manage and dispense student medications as prescribed, following proper documentation and protocols.

Monitor and manage students with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies), following individual healthcare plans.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records and daily logs of student visits and treatments.

Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, staff, and administrators regarding student health issues as needed.

Adhere to school policies and public health guidelines, including communicable disease prevention and control.

Collaborate with school staff to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all students.

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all health-related matters.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in MA
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Current CPR and First Aid certification.

Experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred.

Previous experience in a school or community health setting.
