What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fall Cheerleading Head Coach position at Southeastern Regional Technical High School?
QUALIFICATIONS:
As mandated by the MIAA rule #33 “Coaches’ Education”, all coaches must possess:
- A one- time certification by NFHS prior to year 3 of employment in the following:
- Fundamentals in Coaching
- Sports First Aid
- Sports specific technical and tactical skills
- An annual concussion education certification prior to beginning of the season by NFHS or other MA department of public health recognized education program.
Other qualifications, all coaches must possess:
- A working knowledge of the overall operation of an interscholastic athletic program.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
All coaches will:
- Adhere to and communicate district, school and MIAA philosophies and polices as outlined in the district Employee, Student and Athletic hand books, as well as the MIAA hand book.
- Possess and demonstrate an understanding of the inner workings of the sport that they are coaching.
- Conduct themselves in a highly professional and ethical manner at all times.
- Attend all team related activities such as: practice, games, award banquets, and pep rallies.
- Set up and attend all pre and post season team meetings.
- Attend all pre/post season league meetings.
- Distribute/collect and turn in to trainer all athletic and medical permission cards.
- Distribute, care for and collect all team uniforms and equipment.
- Complete end of the year reports.
- Regularly inspect practice and game facilities, and report needs and /or recommendations.
- Be present and visible in locker room areas before and after practices and games.
- Monitor and encourage educational and behavioral progress of student athletes.
- Encourage and support athletes participating in other sports.
- Report all injuries to the Athletic Trainer.
- Report issues to AD in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Report game results to all appropriate local media.
- Travel to and from scheduled athletic events in the transportation furnished by Southeastern Regional, unless other previous arrangements are allowed by the AD.
- Ensure that all members of the team travel to and from scheduled athletic events in the transportation furnished by Southeastern Regional, unless other previous arrangements are allowed by the AD.
- Supervise the loading and unloading of athletes and equipment onto/from buses for away contests and/or practices.
- Help supervise the loading of the daily late buses.
- Ensure that every athlete is either on the late bus or safely on their way home before leaving campus.
- Help evaluate the assistant coaches.
Other Duties:
- Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the district committee’s policy on the evaluation of personnel.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
As mandated by contract, coaching positions are one year appointments.
Salary : $3,623 - $5,693
