English Teacher (SY 26-27)

QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate must possess and maintain active license as a 9th - 12th grade English teacher from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

REPORTS TO: 

Academic Supervisor (English, History, & World Language)

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Fulfills all duties and responsibilities contained in the contract between the Southeastern Regional School District Committee and the Southeastern Regional Teachers’ Association.
2. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and at the times designated.
3. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
4. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and responsive to the interests of the students.
5. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon the request of administrative personnel.
6. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of behavior.
7. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
8. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media and methodology.
9. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
10. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, keeps accurate and timely records of student achievement, and provides reports of student grades and progress as required.
11. Respects student confidentiality in all contact with any third party.
12. Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
13. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation and direction.
14. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aides.
15. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence. 
16. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
17. Conveys a high standard of personal deportment and attire.  
18. Communicates with parents as needed to assure and encourage student progress.
19. Encourages communication and cooperation in all school areas / departments.
20. Plans and promotes integration activities.
21. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

EVALUATION: 

The Academic Supervisor will evaluate performance of this position.                                          

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Full-time, school year, plus three days.

Salary : $55,818 - $108,193
