POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Southeastern Regional Technical Vocational High School seeks a passionate and dedicated Chemistry Teacher to join our science department. The ideal candidate will inspire students through student-centered, engaging instruction, foster a love of science, and support student success in accordance with Massachusetts curriculum standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The candidate must satisfy and maintain a valid Massachusetts teaching licensure in Chemistry.
- Candidates with a secondary license in Biology preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree, in Chemistry preferred.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Vocational high school experience preferred.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fulfills all duties and responsibilities contained in the contract between the Southeastern Regional School District Committee and the Southeastern Regional Teachers’ Association.
- Develop and implement Universal Design for Learning (UDL) lesson plans that encourage learner-centered, student-owned educational experiences.
- Create a classroom environment of high expectations that is safe, supportive, and inclusive.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to support and differentiate learning.
- Assess and monitor student progress; provide timely and constructive feedback.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and responsive to the interests of the students.
- Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon the request of administrative personnel.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media and methodology.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, keeps accurate and timely records of student achievement, and provides reports of student grades and progress as required.
- Respects student confidentiality in all contact with any third party.
- Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation and direction.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aides.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Conveys a high standard of personal deportment and attire.
- Communicates with parents as needed to assure and encourage student progress.
- Encourages communication and cooperation in all school areas / departments.
- Plans and promotes integration activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Academic Supervisor (Math & Science)
EVALUATION:
The Supervisor will evaluate performance of this position.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Full-time, school year, plus three days.
Salary : $55,818 - $108,193
