FLOOR TECHNICIAN – 3RD SHIFT (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
Location: MCO – Orlando International Airport
Job Summary
Southeast Airport Services is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Floor Technician to maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and sanitation of terminal and office floor areas at Orlando International Airport (MCO). This position is responsible for performing routine and deep-clean floor care services, operating commercial cleaning equipment, and ensuring all assigned areas meet high cleanliness and safety standards. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work efficiently during overnight hours in a fast-paced airport environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain floors in offices, hallways, public areas, restrooms, and terminal spaces.
- Operate floor care equipment including walk-behind scrubbers, push scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, carpet extractors, canister vacuums, and shop vacuums.
- Perform floor stripping, waxing, and buffing on various floor surfaces including tile and terrazzo.
- Perform carpet shampooing, bonnet cleaning, and hot water extraction.
- Remove stains, spills, gum, and debris using proper tools and chemicals.
- Measure, mix, and dispense cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer and safety guidelines.
- Properly label, handle, and store chemicals in compliance with safety procedures.
- Collect and dispose of trash and assist with hazardous waste collection as directed.
- Replenish cleaning supplies in designated areas.
- Clean and maintain equipment and PPE at the end of each shift.
- Identify and report maintenance or safety issues to supervisors.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and airport security procedures.
- Maintain awareness of slip, trip, and fall hazards to protect passengers, employees, and visitors.
- Assist with moving furniture or equipment as needed for floor maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous floor care or janitorial experience preferred.
- Experience operating commercial floor equipment (buffers, scrubbers, waxers, extractors).
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and follow PPE requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to operate heavy cleaning machinery.
- Exposure to noise, cleaning chemicals, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Must be physically able to perform repetitive motions associated with floor maintenance tasks.
Work Environment
- Indoor terminal and office environments.
- Overnight shift operations while airport remains active.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, wet floors, and mechanical equipment.
- Must adhere to airport security and access protocols.
Safety and Compliance Requirements
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

- Must follow all airport security regulations and badging requirements.
