This role contributes to residents’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being by encouraging participation in a variety of recreational, social, and therapeutic activities.

Position Summary:
The Activity Assistant supports the planning and implementation of engaging and meaningful activity programs for residents in a skilled nursing facility. This role contributes to residents’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being by encouraging participation in a variety of recreational, social, and therapeutic activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and executing daily, weekly, and monthly activity calendars that meet the diverse needs and interests of residents.
- Lead group and one-on-one activities such as games, arts and crafts, music, exercise sessions, outings, and social events.
- Encourage resident participation and promote a positive and inclusive environment.
- Transport or escort residents to and from activities as needed, ensuring safety at all times.
- Help decorate and set up for events, holidays, and themed programs.
- Maintain attendance records, activity documentation, and progress notes as required by facility policy and regulations.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, volunteers, and families to support individual care plans and preferences.
- Assist with developing individualized activity plans based on residents’ cognitive and physical abilities.
- Monitor residents during activities and report any changes in mood, behavior, or condition to appropriate staff.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in an activities or recreation role in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Creative, energetic, and organized with a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to push wheelchairs and assist with resident mobility when necessary.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- CPR/First Aid certification a plus.
- Must pass background check and meet all facility/state health requirements.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs).
- Ability to assist with physical tasks during activities and resident care.
