Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Referral Clerk to support healthcare administrative operations by managing patient referrals and ensuring smooth coordination between providers, patients, and specialists. This position plays a vital role in facilitating patient care by processing referral requests accurately and efficiently, in alignment with requirements outlined in the base contract.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Process, track, and manage patient referrals to specialty care and other medical services.
- Communicate with patients, providers, and specialists to ensure timely scheduling and completion of referrals.
- Maintain and update referral records, ensuring compliance with established guidelines and confidentiality standards.
- Assist patients in understanding referral requirements and provide appropriate instructions.
- Perform data entry, record-keeping, and administrative tasks related to referral management.
- Provide clerical support to healthcare staff as needed, including documentation and correspondence.
- Ensure communication is clear, professional, and compliant with HIPAA standards.
- Must be able to read, understand, speak, and write English well enough to communicate effectively.
- Perform additional tasks as required under the Referral Clerk labor category in the base contract.
Education and Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Education: High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency
- Equivalency determination requests are not permitted for this role.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Licensure and Board Certification: Not required.
