Position Overview
South River Federal Solutions LLC (SRFed) is seeking an experienced Master Black Belt (MBB) to support high-visibility Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) initiatives within a Department of Defense (DoD) enterprise environment. This role directly supports senior leaders by driving strategic transformation, organizational performance improvement, and mission execution across complex operational landscapes.
This is a fully on-site position located at the McNamara Headquarters Complex in Fort Belvoir, VA. Relocation assistance is not provided.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Lean Six Sigma methodologies, DoD mission environments, and enterprise-level program execution, with a proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead large-scale transformation efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute enterprise-level CPI and Lean Six Sigma initiatives aligned with DoD strategic priorities
- Advise senior leaders on strategic, programmatic, operational, and tactical planning efforts
- Design and implement organizational development and performance improvement strategies
- Conduct organizational maturity assessments and recommend actionable improvements
- Lead program deployments and large-scale CPI initiatives across complex organizations
- Facilitate and execute CPI projects while ensuring measurable performance outcomes
- Certify and mentor Green Belts and Black Belts in accordance with DoD CPI standards
- Coach senior leaders, sponsors, and CPI teams to drive sustained cultural change
- Utilize CPI project tracking tools (e.g., PowerSteering, CAPER) to manage and report project performance
- Deliver instruction and training on CPI methodologies and best practices
- Support governance, reporting, and continuous evaluation of CPI initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) from an accredited university
- Valid Master Black Belt (MBB) certification from American Society for Quality (ASQ) or military equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of MBB experience
- Minimum 3 years of DoD MBB experience, including consulting, advising, and working with senior leaders
- Minimum 2 years of MBB experience supporting Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) environments
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Strategic planning and decision support
- Organizational development and transformation initiatives
- Program deployment and program management at enterprise scale
- Minimum 5 years of experience using CPI project repository tools (e.g., PowerSteering, CAPER)
- Minimum 3 years of coaching and mentoring CPI practitioners, leaders, and teams
- Experience delivering CPI instruction and certifying Green/Black Belts
- Completion of 120 hours of MBB training focused on leadership, culture change, and mentoring (e.g., university, ASQ, Six Sigma Global Institute, or military equivalent such as Army MBB Course – ASI 1Z)
- Advanced Professional Military Education (PME), such as: Combined Arms and Services Staff School (CAS3), Command and General Staff College (CGSC) / Intermediate Level Education (ILE), or equivalent graduate-level coursework
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Leadership, Organizational Development, or related field
- Prior CPI experience as a military officer, NCO, or government civilian
- Experience operating within large-scale logistics or enterprise DoD organizations
