South Dakota State University is seeking a Computer Science Instructor/Lecturer with a passion for teaching and a strong interest in applying computer science to real-world challenges. In this role, you'll guide students through both foundational concepts and emerging technologies, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to succeed in an evolving digital world. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota and is a 9-month full-time, benefits-eligible position.
The McComish Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science provides a hands-on, practical education that prepares students for careers in engineering, science, and technology. Our programs emphasize problem-solving, research, and collaboration with industry and government partners. Students benefit from a supportive learning environment and access to cutting-edge resources, while faculty have opportunities to engage in applied research and industry-focused projects that make a real-world impact.
Key Responsibilities
SDState offers a wide range of excellent benefits including medical, dental, and flexible benefits, retirement plans, compensation packages, paid holidays, and vacation leave. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 6% matching, 9.34 hours of sick leave each month, and eleven paid holidays. Employees also have access to internal and state-sponsored training as well as reduced tuition for state-supported courses at all State of South Dakota academic institutions. Relocation benefits are available per university's guidelines.

- Teach a broad range of undergraduate courses in computer science or software engineering, with the possibility of teaching both upper- and lower-level undergraduate courses.
- Advise students on senior capstone projects.
- Participate in undergraduate curriculum development and updates.
