An engineering and technology organisation is seeking a Configuration Management Engineer to support configuration and data management across the full product lifecycle, from development through sustainment and end-of-life. The role focuses on document control, configuration accuracy, engineering change management and process improvement within a matrixed engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Configuration Management (CM) and Data Management (DM) support to Systems Engineering, Engineering and Program Management teams.
• Execute configuration control across system documentation, software and engineering drawing releases, revisions and archival.
• Develop and optimise processes for releasing product configurations into configuration management systems.
• Track, manage and deliver project data, including documentation, software and drawing packages.
• Prepare Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
• Prepare and manage deviations and waivers.
• Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and associated configuration data.
• Coordinate configuration management activities across engineering, programme and other functional teams.
• Maintain accurate product configurations throughout development, production and sustainment.
• Review and standardise configuration management processes to support continuous improvement and industry best practices.
• Ensure configuration control activities align with SAE EIA-649 standards and an ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
• Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams within a matrixed development environment.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship required for position eligibility.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
• Experience in configuration management, data management or a related engineering environment.
• Experience supporting configuration control of technical documentation, software and engineering drawings.
• Experience managing engineering changes, including ECNs and ECPs.
• Experience managing deviations, waivers and Bills of Materials.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate configuration records.
• Strong organisational, communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively across multiple functional teams and project stakeholders.
• Self-directed approach with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations, including MIL-STD, MIL-HDBK, ISO and ASME.
• Familiarity with SAE-GEIA-859 and MIL-STD-963.
• Experience working within an ISO 9001 quality management environment.
• Experience supporting complex engineering or production-ready systems.

Compensation

The salary range is $75,000–$140,000 per year, depending on level, experience, education, training and skills.

• Engineer 2: $75,000–$90,000 — typically BS with 0–5 years' experience or MS with 0 years.
• Staff Engineer: $90,000–$115,000 — typically BS with 5 years or MS with 3 years.
• Senior Engineer: $120,000–$140,000 — typically BS with 7 years or MS with 5 years.
